FAQ’s
What are cortisone injections?
Cortisone is a type of corticosteroid that can help relieve inflammation, reduce redness and relieve scarring. Cortisone is naturally produced in your body by your adrenal gland although often in small amounts. Corticosteroids can be taken orally, injected or applied topically – but have the most immediate and greatest affect when injected. Cortisone injections have become a popular non-surgical solution to treating scars.
How do they work?
Cortisone injections are administered directly into the epidermis of the affected area by a Nurse Injector, and the entire procedure takes a matter of minutes. Cortisone injections can be administered to almost any area on the body and/or face. The effects of cortisone injections are usually felt rapidly and can last months and in some cases are permanent.
