Silhouette Soft Thread Lift

Overview

Refresh your face, and lift and tone skin in less than an hour with a Silhouette Soft Thread Lift at our Melbourne clinic.

A Silhouette Soft Thread Lift has two effects – lifting and regenerating.

The lifting effect is immediate and discreet as it is the result of compressing and elevating tissue at the time of adjusting the suture. Once the suture is applied, the polylactic acid acts on the deeper layers of the skin and naturally stimulates the body so that it produces its own collagen. This action, which continues over time, helps increase the volume of saggy areas and restores shapeliness to the face gradually and naturally.

Silhouette Soft Thread Lift – a non-surgical option

Silhouette-Soft-Visual-suture

A Thread Lift is perfect for both men and women between 30-60 years of age seeking a natural looking change without invasive surgery, and are wanting minimal downtime.

The Silhouette Soft Thread Lift has been called the “lunchtime facelift” due to how quickly the procedure can be performed, and the minimal recovery time involved.

After a careful assessment of facial aesthetics and symmetry, Mr Allan Kalus of Avenue Plastic Surgery will perform the Silhouette Thread Lift assisted by our injector and surgical nurse Jane.

Usually it is the jowls that need a lift but other areas such as the neck and brow can also be treated. Once a plan has been made, a little local anaesthetic is injected to numb the skin.  The Silhouette Soft suture is then inserted with a fine needle and passed under the skin so that the thread lies in the direction of the intended lift.  The skin is then lightly massaged upwards where the cones in the suture hold it in place.  The effect is immediate and long lasting.

Conditions treated:

  • Skin laxity through the cheek region and the eyebrows
  • Loose of volume and fullness of the face
  • Loose sagging skin around the eye or eyebrow region
  • Loose sagging skin around the neck
  • Ageing skin around the neck area or “jowls” under the chin

FAQs

What is Silhouette Soft Thread?

The Silhouette Soft Thread is an absorbable skin suture with a difference.  The difference is multiple small cones along the length of the thread.  These cones are designed to hold the skin in its new lifted position.  As the cones slowly dissolve they are replaced with your own collagen which provides a degree of permanence to the lift and also improves the texture and volume of your skin.

How is the Thread Lift performed?

Every face is different, so a careful evaluation is performed first.

Amazingly, no incisions are required so there is no scarring!

What should I expect after the treatment?

Mild swelling and bruising is to be expected after the treatment, and may take up to a week to settle. Sometimes, a slight depression or skin irregularity may appear at the entry points – these generally disappear a few days after the treatment.

There is often a mild amount of discomfort associated with the recovery period. The cheeks feel tight and there is some pain behind the ears for several days, especially on chewing.

We recommend the following post- treatment recommendations:

  • Take analgesia, such as paracetamol, to help ease the pain
  • Sleep face up and slightly elevated (3-5nights)
  • Wash, shave and dry face very gently without rubbing (5 days)
  • Avoid makeup application (for 24hrs)
  • Avoid facial massages or facial aesthetic treatments (4 weeks)
  • Avoid high intensity exercise (2 weeks)
  • Do not use saunas or steam rooms (3 weeks)
  • Avoid the dentist (3 weeks)

What results can I expect?

Our patients have been delighted with the results of their Silhouette Soft Thread Lift.  There is an immediate and discreet lifting effect, simulating what happens when you lift your cheeks in front of the mirror.

The thread is made of polylactic acid, and as it slowly dissolves over several months it naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen.  This helps to increase the volume and restores shapeliness to the face in a gradual and natural way.

A Silhouette Soft Thread Lift will make you look younger and refreshed rather than different.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

Thread lifts induce a long term lift in the skin. The tightening and lift achieved is, however, under the constant influence of gravity, and as a result, the tissues will tend to fall back towards their previous position. A thread lift may need to be repeated every 2 years.

The results from the procedure are generally subtle, and should not be equated to the results of a surgical facelift. Pre-existing degree of skin laxity, age, skin thickness, number of threads used and lifestyle factors may all contribute to the longevity of the treatment.

How can I maximise the results?

To maximise results the client must adhere to post-treatment care recommendations for best results.
Depending on the individual, other treatments may be recommended for ideal results such as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Furthermore, the health of the skin may be enhanced with skin treatments or a cosmeceutical homecare routine, which can be prescribed by our Dermal Clinicians.

Am I suitable for this treatment?

This procedure is unsuitable for clients who expect changes equivalent to those of a surgical facelift. Such expectations are unrealistic and can only lead to disappointment.

It is perfectly safe to combine the Silhouette Soft Thread Lift with other procedures such as dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections as well as skin treatments – medi-facials, peels, laser, LED light therapy and more.

For severe sagging of the skin, face and neck we would recommend a surgical facelift – which these days can even be done under local anesthetic.

For early signs of ageing the Silhouette Soft Thread Lift is a unique option for the clients of Avenue Advanced Skin Care and Avenue Plastic Surgery.

At Avenue Advanced Skin Care we recommend the use of cosmeceutical skin care to compliment the effects of the Silhouette Soft Threat Lift.  Ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid help to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin surface while the Silhouette Soft works best beneath the surface.
