Vitamin A works by normalising skin function – meaning it helps to correct all skin conditions.
There are different forms of Vitamin A (such as retinol, retinol palmitate, retinyl acetate). You can take vitmain A in a Pharamceutical Grade oral tablet, Pharmaceautical Grade topical cream or more commonly in Cosmeceutical skin care. These three forms of vitamin A can have an amazing impact on the skin if prescribed and used correctly.
Contact us online or call (03) 9521 5533 to arrange an appointment with our Dermal Clinicians to discuss what Vitamin A product is most suitable for you.
At Avenue Advanced Skin Care we stock a large range of Cosmeceutical at-home vitamin A products – from skincare ranges such as Skin Medica, Cosmedix, Results RX, Aspect Dr, Societe and MdRejuvena. Your Dermal Clinician will help you to determine the most suitable vitamin A for your skin.
Directions of vitamin A usage:
It is important to start using vitamin A gradually.
Apply ½ pump full face (avoiding lips and eye areas) every 3rd night for 2 weeks. Then increase application to every 2nd night for 2 weeks. Ideally increasing to nightly application (or as advised by your Dermal Clinician).
If you experience irritation, redness, or tingling when using vitamin A, it is most likely overuse of the product. If these side effects do occur – stop using the vitamin A for a minimum of 5 days before using again. Then very gradually increase usage again (as described above).
If using vitamin A products, you MUST use a high quality sunscreen daily.
If you are currently on a Pharmaceautical Grade oral vitamin A we do not recommend that you use any topical forms of vitamin A.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it is best to avoid using vitamin A during this time.
Please notify your Dermal Clinician of any changes to your health, medications, supplements or home skin care regime.
If you have any other questions or concerns please call the clinic on 9521 5533, we are here to help and guide you.
